Why Choose Smooth Transitions?
We specialize in providing care during the first 6 months only. This helps us stay focused on one of the most critical times in the development of your baby and the transitions you are going through as a new family.
Our care is flexible, customized and adjustable to fit your needs. We can work with you for a couple of days to help you get settled or be with you for a few months. It is all up to you! We work with you and your family to determine what your needs are and adjust accordingly.
You will never be charged for care you do not receive. If you schedule 3 overnights a week for 3 months and your baby start sleeping through the night at 2 months just let us know that you want to reduce your schedule and we will take care of it.
Our rates are the same regardless of the time of care. Some providers charge more if they work overnights – we don’t. We don’t think you should be penalized for wanting a good night’s sleep!
We provide care in YOUR home. We come to you so that you and your baby do not have the added stress of travel and strange surroundings.
We do not charge a ‘finder’s fee’ or ‘service fee’ to use our service. It is our pleasure to help you find a Nurse or Specialist that fits your needs and is a good match for your family. If we can’t find someone for you, you will not be charged anything for our time.
Our Baby Nurses and Newborn Care Specialists do NOT come into your home with their own agenda. This is your baby and your family and we do not presume to know what is best. Instead we work with you, your baby and your family to help you determine your parenting style for long term success.
We always provide a back-up provider that you have interviewed and approved when you schedule with us. That way, if your primary provider is ill there will be uninterrupted care provided by someone you have already met and agreed is a good fit for you and your family.
We take care of payment and tax paperwork. The only thing you need to do is provide payment to us and we will take care of paying the provider and the related tax paperwork requirements. We even provide you with reports that you can use to get a tax deduction (if you qualify).
We help you determine what your needs might be. We have years of experience working with newborns and new families. We can easily suggest what might work for you based on your circumstances so you don’t have to spend time trying to figure it out or getting anxious about what you might need. We’ll make our suggestions, see what is a good fit and go from there.

As Sharon developed her ideas back in 1998 they focused on her main goal of creating a unique service that screened and interviewed Newborn Care Specialists and then matched them with new parents who needed qualified, supportive and nonjudgmental assistance. Her ideas were implemented through Smooth Transitions and she created ways in which people could connect while maintaining the highest quality of standards in custom infant care.
For the past 12 years Smooth Transitions has stayed conscious of the special needs of new parents and adjusted their service to meet each individual family's needs especially first-time parents and parents of twins and triplets. She looks forward to learning and growing together with the Specialists and their families that she is privileged to help.
