Career Opportunities
Are you looking for part-time or full-time work as a Baby Nurse or Newborn Care Specialist?
Smooth Transitions provides facilitated employment opportunities in Colorado homes. We do this by determining our clients' needs and matching them with your availability, location and compatibility.
Our goal is to meet your expectations of flexibility, fair compensation and support. In return we expect a commitment to integrity, dependability and nonjudgmental care.
In order to be considered for placement you MUST have at least 2 years of recent newborn care experience. Care must have been provided to families with infants aged newborn to 6 months. Experience caring for your own infants is beneficial but if that is the only experience you have you DO NOT qualify for this position. No exceptions will made to this requirement.
CPR (for infants and adults) and First Aid Certification is also required to be placed through Smooth Transitions. If you do not currently have your certifications but plan on renewing and/or attending classes (at your own cost) to obtain certification we can accept your application and start processing you but will not be able to place you with a family until you obtain your certifications (assuming you meet all of our other qualifications).
You must have reliable transportation. You will be traveling to the family's home in order to provide care. We normally do not offer you positions that are more than 30 minutes away from your home but if you are willing to travel longer distances, we can accommodate you.
Our Newborn Care Specialists must obtain malpractice insurance at their own cost. If you choose to obtain a policy through CM&F Group the annual premium is $65.00 for coverage up to $1 million. The insurance covers you for any care you provide whether it is with Smooth Transitions, on your own or with another company. To learn more about, please go to http://www.cmfgroup.com/.
Smooth Transitions pays you as an Independent Contractor on an hourly basis depending on the number of infants you are caring for. If you are working with a family with one infant you will be paid $13 per hour. Twins are $17 per hour and Triplets are $21 per hour. We do not take taxes, social security or medicare out of your check. It is your responsibility to take out the appropriate percentage based on your personal situation and pay the IRS directly. To learn more about being an Independent Contractor and the IRS requirements for tax payments, please go to http://www.irs.gov/.
The main reason we bring on Newborn Care Specialists as Independent Contractors is that we want you to have complete control over your schedule and the families you work with. We want you to be happy about working with our families and go to work knowing you are making a difference in their lives because you are a good match and enjoy being with them. We also know that your life can change because of school and/or family commitments. If you want to work a full-time schedule during part of the year and then switch to part-time, that is fine with us. We only ask that you keep your commitment to any families you have already been scheduled with and communicate your plans as soon as possible.
Please be aware that we will need you to provide your social security number, driver's license number, personal information and 3 references so that we can conduct a thorough background investigation of your driving, criminal and working record before considering you for placement.
