Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you charge a 'finder's fee' or setup fee?
No. We do not charge finder's or setup fees. You only pay for services received.
In what areas of Colorado do you provide care?
The majority of our families live within the Denver Metro area but we have also served families in Summit County, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.
How many families have you assisted?
Since we began providing care in Colorado in 1998 we have assisted over 600 families. The majority have been first-time parents and parents of twins.
Will I be charged for services I thought I needed but then canceled?
No. You will never be charged for services you don't receive. If your needs change you just need to contact us as soon as possible so that we can coordinate the change with our Newborn Care Specialist.
Do you also care for older siblings?
In order to provide the best care our Newborn Care Specialists will focus their attention and care on the infant(s). This will allow you more time to take care of siblings, if necessary.
Do your Newborn Care Specialists follow a certain philosophy?
Our Specialists do not come into your home with their own agenda. They are there to help you and your family in the manner you see fit.
What happens if my scheduled Specialist gets sick or my delivery happens sooner than expected?
A back-up Specialist will always be available.
Do I get to choose the Specialist who works for me and my family?
Yes! You will interview and choose each Specialist who works in your home.
Do your Specialists have shift minimum/maximums?
Yes. Our daytime shifts are a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 10 hours per day per Specialist. Overnight shifts are a minimum of 8 hours per day per Specialist.
What if I need round-the-clock help?
We do offer short-term 24-hour care but if you require more than 10 hours a day and/or more than 40 hours per week on a long-term basis we will schedule a second Specialist to work with your family.
Will I be responsible for paying my Newborn Care Specialist?
No. All you do is sign a timesheet and pay the weekly invoice we send you. We pay the Specialist so you don't have to worry about employee and/or tax issues.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept MasterCard, VISA and American Express. If you prefer to use another type of credit card we can process your payment via PayPal.
How far in advance should I contact Smooth Transitions for help?
Ideally you should contact us three to four months before your due date. The more time you give us the better we will be able to meet your needs.
What if I need help now?
If you have immediate needs we will try our best to accommodate them with an on-call Specialist that may be available for short-term and/or urgent needs.
