Private In-home Classes in Indiana

Smooth Transitions offers private In-home Classes and Consultations in Elkhart, Mishawaka or South Bend, Indiana by appoinment. Our instructors help ease the transition into parenthood with custom education and hands-on demonstrations in your home.

In-Home Classes

Our private in-home classes address common concerns for new parents and are customized to participants' needs and situation. The class lasts 2 hours and topics that can be covered are:

• What you can expect from your newborn
• Diapering techniques and skin care
• Creating a 'Happy Bath Time'
• What you need to know about cord and circumcision care
• Easy swaddling techniques
• The most productive burping positions
• How to recognize and treat constipation, gas, dehydration, jaundice and reflux
• Stabilizing a baby's body temperature
• Techniques for soothing your baby
• Ways to lessen sleep deprivation

When you invite an instructor into your home for this class, the cost is $50. You also have the option of inviting friends who are also expecting, potential nannies, relatives, grandparents and/or anyone who may be helping you after the birth and you feel could benefit from this class. The cost for each additional person would be $15. When you invite at least 3 people to your class, you can receive a free In-home Consultation (a $75 value!).

In-Home Consultations

Our 2 hour in-home consultations provide personal guidance and support in your home after the birth. With one-on-one discussions and demonstrations, your consultant can help ease specific concerns by offering effective techniques and suggestions focused on your specific issues like breastfeeding and postpartum recovery.

Our consultants can also help you evaluate your baby's overall appearance and address any issues you are concerned about. They can show you techniques on how to swaddle your baby, burp your baby and deal with rashes, and unusual feeding / sleeping issues.

If you would prefer that a consultant come to your home prior to the birth, that is also an options. Your consultant can give you tips on how to ready your nursery - including suggestions for products that you will need and the overall set up - so that it will be easier to function once the baby arrives.They can also share tips on how to maximize your time so that you can be sure to take care of yourself.

The cost is $75.00 for 2 hours or FREE if you host an In-home Class (please see above).
