Services Customized to YOUR Needs

During pregnancy almost every thought is focused on the birth. More often than not, little thought is given to the 4th trimester (the first few months after birth). This is where Smooth Transitions can be an active part of making a difference in your lives as new parents especially if you are first-time parents and/or have twins or triplets.

If your tendency is to sleep in, we can arrange for someone to help your family get a great start to their day without compromising your natural sleep cycle.

If you are a morning person, we can provide help in the afternoon so you can rejuvenate with a nap, walk or hot bath while we take care of your infant(s). These breaks are essential to your health and will do wonders to restore your body and mind.

If you have other children or want to avoid sleep deprivation, we can arrange for someone to help you overnight so that you can function well during the day and maintain continuity in your family's schedule. This will ensure a safe and happy home as well as safeguard your emotional and physical well-being.

Our services are customized to your needs, so the type of care we provide will be set up to meet your specific expectations. Our main focus is on the mother and the infant(s) needs. If you already have support from family, friends or other professional care providers, we can work around their availability so that you have all of the care you require.

Midwives and Labor Doulas

If you are fortunate to have a midwife or labor doula present during the birth, we can be a great continuation of that support if they do not provide postpartum assistance. Telling your story and having someone to give you feedback and answer your questions is paramount to both your physical and emotional well being as a new parent.

Family and Friends

If you have family and friends who have offered to provide assistance after the birth, we can be there to show them the latest techniques in infant care of come in at night so that everyone can get the rest they need. We can also step in to help once everyone returns home and you are on your own.

Pediatrician Assistance

We can also be a tremendous help in the record keeping that is crucial to the effectiveness of the care provided by your Pediatrician. our Newborn Care Specialists maintain detailed tracksheets that can be used to show how much your infant has eaten, eliminated and other physical progress. This will make it easier for everyone to see patterns and provide solutions that will help your infant(s) thrive.

Information and Instruction

We can answer questions and provide instruction in infant care which can include diaper changes, cord care, bathing, feeding and proper burping techniques as well as guide you in ways to enhance the quality of your infant(s) sleep.

Multiples Assistance

Our Newborn Care Specialists are experienced in the care of multiples so if you have twins or triplets we can help by showing you how to care for each baby individually as well as proven techniques to better handle them when they are together.

Lactation Support

If you choose to breastfeed we have training and experience in breastfeeding support and can help you avoid common mistakes which can prematurely discourage you. If you have multiples we can show you specific techniques that will help you.
